Propagio

Terms and Conditions

Current legal version: 2026-03-01 · EN

1. Scope

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of Propagio.

Propagio is a directory and coordination service for people who share fermentation starters such as sourdough, kefir, kombucha, jun, tibicos, and similar cultures. Propagio is not a marketplace, payment processor, fulfilment service, broker, courier, or food business.

By creating an account, completing onboarding, or using Propagio, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Propagio is lawful where you are located.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for keeping access to your account secure. You must provide accurate information when creating or updating your profile, including your display name, shared cultures, and contact details.

If you no longer want to use the service, you may delete your account at any time from the profile page.

3. What Propagio provides

Propagio lets users:

  • create a public profile for sharing fermentation starters;
  • publish starters they are willing to share;
  • set an approximate location for local discovery;
  • choose which contact details are public and which are only revealed after approval;
  • send, receive, approve, or decline contact requests; and
  • optionally receive push notifications about request activity.

Propagio does not guarantee that:

  • any listing is accurate, current, lawful, or safe;
  • any starter is viable, uncontaminated, or fit for consumption or propagation;
  • any user will respond, meet, or complete an exchange; or
  • the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

4. Profile visibility and contact sharing

Your public profile may include your display name, avatar, bio, website, starters, approximate location label, availability status, and any contact channels you mark as public.

If you mark a contact channel as on_request, Propagio will only reveal that channel to another user after you approve their request through the product.

You are responsible for deciding what information to publish and whom to approve.

5. Location information

Propagio is designed to avoid publishing exact home or street-level coordinates.

The app currently stores and displays a public A5 cell at resolution 11 for profile discovery. Because A5 is an equal-area grid and the app uses resolution 11 as its public cell setting, the public location area is roughly 8.1 km2 on average, equivalent to a circle of about 1.6 km radius or about 3.2 km across. This is an approximation, not a guaranteed distance in every direction.

The profile also stores a human-readable location label derived from a rounded map selection. This label is intended to describe an approximate area, not a precise address.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Propagio for unlawful activity;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate, defraud, or spam other users;
  • post false, misleading, or deceptive profile or starter information;
  • use the service for unsolicited advertising or commercial bulk outreach;
  • attempt to scrape, interfere with, reverse engineer, or abuse the service; or
  • upload or share content that infringes another person’s rights.

We may suspend or remove access to the service if we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or if doing so is necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties.

7. User responsibility for exchanges

All exchanges happen directly between users.

You are solely responsible for:

  • deciding whether to meet another user;
  • checking the identity, trustworthiness, and suitability of another user;
  • handling packaging, storage, transport, and hygiene of any starter;
  • complying with local rules that may apply to food, gifting, transport, or public meetups; and
  • deciding whether a starter is safe or appropriate for your intended use.

You should use caution when meeting someone in person and when consuming or propagating any culture received through the service.

8. Intellectual property and content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Propagio, such as profile text, starter notes, and contact information.

You grant Propagio a non-exclusive licence to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide the service.

9. Service changes and availability

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue part of Propagio at any time. We may also update these terms from time to time.

If we make a material change, we may publish a new legal version and require renewed acceptance before continued use of parts of the service.

10. Disclaimers

Propagio is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Propagio disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and availability.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Propagio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, opportunity, or profit arising from or related to use of the service.

Propagio is also not responsible for personal injury, illness, contamination, allergic reaction, property damage, failed exchanges, or disputes between users arising from starter sharing or in-person contact.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using Propagio at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access if reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or serious breach of these terms.
